In Loving Memory

Today the HSC family honours the life of long-time member and beloved friend, Jennifer Voss. Jenn was a central member of our executive for many years. Her dedication to our club, and tireless volunteerism across the zone, brought pride to all of us. Jenn was a truly beautiful person, inside and out, one whose unbreakable spirit and zest for life inspired us all. Rest now, dear friend. You will be forever missed, and always remembered. – July 12, 2016

HEAD NANCY GREENE COACH STEWART GREEN RETIRES

Stewart Green announced back on July 7th that he was retiring from HSC and moving to Sun Peaks with his wife Angelika. Stewart, who joined HSC back in 1986, has taught hundreds of Nancy Greeners at Hemlock over the past 29 years. His positive “can-do” attitude and always having a twinkle in his eye made him a favourite coach for many of our Nancy Greeners and quite a few of the parents. This weekend, we had the opportunity to present Stewart with a well-deserved life time distinguished service award at the annual end of summer party hosted by the Hemlock Valley Homeowners Association. The certificate was given to him by the kids that he trained, which then resulted in a monster group hug! It truly is a rare day for Stewart to be at a loss for words, but this was one of them! He will be missed but we hope to see him on the hill from time to time. – Sept 12, 2015

We are pleased to announce today that Hemlock Ski Club has hired Rob Lahti as our new Program Director / Head Coach

Rob is both a former ski racer and long-time head coach for the Mount Seymour Ski Club…. As a ski racer, he raced 8 years at the FIS level and competed for Canada on the World Cup circuit. As a ski racing coach, he has coached hundreds of junior racers over his career and to date has placed three of them on the BC Ski team. In addition to his coaching for Mt. Seymour Ski Club, he was also a regular coach for the BC Ski team and a guest coach for ski camps for elite racers at both Whistler (i.e. the Mike and Manny camp) and at Mt. Hood. Rob is very well known and respected in the ski racing community and this will create new opportunities for Hemlock racers in the future.

Rob brings to his job an incredible amount of dedication and enthusiasm, which is infectious to junior racers, fellow coaches, club executives and parents. Rob has trained and coached teams racing at Hemlock before and he loves both the terrain and “vibe” of Hemlock. Rob is absolutely thrilled to be joining the Hemlock Ski Club and coming to our mountain. – August 23, 2015

Brad Keats Receives Mission Community Sport Hero Award

This award is given to an individual from the local community who has been a dedicated sport volunteer for a minimum of 8 years, and who makes a voluntary contribution to sport as coach, official, board member, administrator or special event coordinator.

Brad has been a volunteer in the Alpine community for over twenty years. He continuously steps up and lends a hand whenever possible. His assistance has been instrumental in the success of races, and most currently, the planning of the BC Winter Games. He has no children in the sport, he just wants to help out. Brad’s selflessness and humbling personality make him a Community Sport Hero.
